![]() By reading the first line of the story, the Queen is already referred to as wicked because she wants something better for her daughter. The story The Little Prince seemingly puts women at a disadvantage, even using negative adjectives such as naggers, ambitious, unlucky, and wicked. These two lines emphasize that only men are decisive and strong to be rulers and women are not. ![]() This is because women are not meant to rule alongside the men, they are not expected to be seen in high courts, but instead, they are expected to be seen at home and take care of the children, as shown in the last line of the first paragraph: ‘…to this end, she brought up the children.’ This line shows that only the King is absorbed in the ruling of the kingdom, and the Queen has no say in it. ‘The King rarely saw them, he was immersed in the affairs of the kingdom.’ This condition shows the inequality between men and women and is apparent in The Little Prince’s story. They sit beside the King, but despite so, they are not allowed nor given a chance to help in the kingdom’s affairs. They are always the Queen, and queens never get to rule the kingdom, at least in this story’s timeline. ![]()
